    A special pair of NY's

Received the NY0081 "Fugu" a week or 2 ago and loved it. Just today I received the NY0087. Figured I'd post a couple quick shots.

The 87 came with a special case:

87 on left, 81 on right:

The 87 has the more traditional round hour markers and handset, and a box around the day/date. Both have signed crowns but are different in most other aspects, the 81's crown is maybe 1mm longer as well.

Both are "limited", they made 2000 of the 87 and I believe 1000 of the 81. For some reason they didn't number the 81's.

I can't get over how much I enjoy these relatively affordable divers. I have more expensive watches in the collection but there's just something about these that make me happy.

Sometimes a watch just makes you happy and in my experience it has little to do with cost. Congratulations.

I know this fact from my affinity for Gshock and Vostok, but I get caught up in the specs sometimes. I appreciate sapphire and higher beat movements as much as the next guy but I've proved to myself that mineral or acrylic is fine for my needs, as are slightly less smooth sweeping second hands.
The size, the crown position, and the overall appearance of the NY's just does it for me. That they're limited is a bonus but secondary, I'm sure I'd be just as happy with a standard 0040 and I already know that sometime this year I'll be confirming that.

Are the bezel profiles the same? I know that on the Fugu's they rounded them a bit more compared to the NY0040. Just wondered if they did the same with the 87

The bezels look exactly the same to me. Upon closer look however I noticed a couple of very slight differences in the cases.

From the top view the lugs look the same but the Fugu's are more rounded near the tip than the 87:

Also, the non-crown side of the cases are shaped a little differently. The 87 (on the left) has a flatter profile before it starts to curve down to the caseback, the Fugu starts to curve sooner:
