    What year is this from?

    Hi everyone,

This is a pretty bruised up Citizen. Can somebody please tell me what year this is from? What model is this; Eco-Drive?
I wonder if it was made in Japan..

Mid to late 90s, possibly 96. The caliber is 6850 so you might be able to find a replacement from Miyota. The dial looks great so restore this one! Loving that caseback too.

It's not an eco-drive, it's a quartz model from the 1990s. I couldn't find the exact model number, but the number 6850 on the back plate is the movement calibre.

Thank you! It looks like it is from July, 1996 then. I plan on restoring it!

When sending it for repair/restore, is there anything I should tell the watchmaker not to do? For example, for them to not repaint the dial or not polish somewhere?

Should I change the crystal also? If so, to what type of crystal?

Tell the watchmaker not to restore the dial but a sympathetic cleaning with Rodico would do. The crystal should be changed and since it's a regular mineral, a generic one would do fine. The case is your choice; a polish will make it look new but it has to be done with care. If you'd like to try your hand at it, you can tell your watchmaker not to polish it.
