    Keri's Kollection

    Hello.

I've gotten the Russian Watch bug to a small degree...
So far I'm at about 9 with a couple more on the way.

This one is my absolute favorite watch of all time but it's a bit dressy.
It's a CCCP Chaika with a Finift bracelet.
The bracelet and case are quite dirty and worn with much of the plating gone.

Fortunately, a new watch made in modern times with the same case presented itself.... All I had to do was switch movements and Presto! Much more presentable. Maybe I can get the original case and bracelet cleaned and replated sometime.

    Have Fun,
    Keri

    Hello.

Here's my 2nd favorite watch. It's a simple gradient green dial Zaria.
    It's a great everyday watch.

It cleaned up nicely and I put a Timex white/green band on it.
The dial is 25mm, case with crown is 30mm. Wow! In that picture it looks HUGE on my wrist!

Why are used Russian ladies watches so dirty and beat up?
Life must be hard and dirty over there.

Glad I'm over here in ЧИКАГО, (Chicago)

    Here's an interesting Zaria:

    "РУСЬ РОССИЯ СССР"
Is my translation correct as " Rus' (race name) Russia USSR" ?
Does anyone know what significance this watch has?
Obviously, someone thought it was important enough to put on a watch dial.
It makes a great conversation piece.

It has the same case as my Green Zaria with a similar movement but with a second hand.

    Have Fun,
    Keri

    Here's a unique Luch.

Apparently made around the end of the USSR, it's got a Soviet flag "Dove" superimposed over an American flag "Dove" (or is it a "Heart"?).

This Luch is Quartz and kinda broken. It runs OK and then stops with the second hand chugging away trying to overcome something. Probably a speck of dirt or lack of lubrication. Hopefully not missing or worn-down gear teeth. Maybe during the winter I'll have enough time to look into it.

Here's an interesting concept from Zaria....

    A Pin Watch!

It looks kinda like a medal but it's a watch.

It goes great on my big black purse and sure beats fumbling around for my cellphone to check the time.

It appears to use the same movement as the "Rus' Russia" watch above.

The pin itself is easily dislodged. I'm sure most of these got lost or dropped at some point. Also, it's quite easy to scratch oneself on the pointy part.
Not a problem, a couple of minutes adjustment and a small collet took care of both annoyances.

    Have Fun,

    Here's a nice, plain-ish gold Chaika.
It may lack Finift, a fancy dial or even filigree but the pattern is pleasing, the plating thick and the bracelet very strong. The crystal isn't especially appealing being rather thick and having a raised edge.

It's nearly new and still has the original box and packaging.
Amazingly, it cost very little money.

Sorry about the awful pictures. This watch is TINY and my poor camera's Macro mode only does so much.

    Have Fun,
    Keri

PS. I'm going to stop taking pictures until I get a Macro lens for some decent close-ups.

Nice collection - it has focus.

    How's the weather in Chicago?

    Thank you!

Just wait until the Skeleton watch gets here....
That and when I get some decent pics of the Finift watches.... one of them has filigree detail.

The weather is hot and sunny, but I cheated and spent the day indoors where it's not.

But now, I'm fated to mow the lawn.

    Have Fun,

The Zaria "pin watch" is probably a nurse's watch, where it is ready to use without having to be on the wrist, making it easy to roll up the sleeves (if needed) for washing hands, etc.

I like these small, women's watches too. They're like little jewels. I also collect big chronographs and Amphibias, but the small watches are amazing - that someone could jam all those parts in such a small package.
